I have taught dance to “Under 4’s” as an artist for the Lowry and independently at Nursery Centres for Manchester LA.
As a freelance dance artist I have worked in primary schools all over the North West. My main work has been as a dance artist for Arts Activity Weeks and curriculum dance within primary schools. I have worked extensively for the Manchester and Trafford Sport Partnership as a primary dance specialist, my role was to support the teachers in their dance curriculum. This means nearly all Primary Schools in Chorlton, Didsbury, Withington, Northenden, Wythenshawe, Levenshulme and Burnage.
Cross Curricular Dance
My technique is to use the KS1/2 curriculum as a starting point and create a dance curriculum based on this. Working this way makes it relevant to the children and easier to plan for the teachers.
In Ashton Renewal Area I created Healthy Living Dance schemes for KS2 covering Dance, Science and PSHE.
Creative Partnerships Resident Artist
I have worked as an Artist in Residence for Creative Partnerships Salford and Manchester at Broadoak Primary School in Didsbury for 6 months. I worked with all staff to find out what their needs were for their dance curriculum, I then taught lessons based on their input and evaluated and re wrote the lessons. At the end of the summer term I wrote Schemes of Work for all years based on the feedback.
Some of the Primary Schools I have worked with:
St Bede’s Prep, St Hilda’s Primary, St Thomas’s CofE, Limetree Primary, Wellfield Primary, Dowson Primary, Oldfield Brow, Broadoak Primary, Oakdale Primary, Victoria Park Primary, Our Lady of Lourdes, Bradley Green Primary, Lyndhurst Primary, Yew Tree Primary, Chorlton Park Primary, Chapel St Primary, Barlow Hall Primary, Oswald Rd Primary, SS John Fisher/Thomas More Catholic Primary School, St Anthony’s, St Elizabeth’s, Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School, Partington Primary, Parochial Church of England Primary School, St Peters Primary, Ashton West End Primary, Canon Johnson Primary, Spotland Primary School, Rochdale.
